Initially the company stepped to produce various products like ice cream and chocolate. As the popularity of Jolly Rancher candy’s increases due to the huge sales of these candies, then the company focused on the hard candy and stopped the making ice cream.

The couple forcibly involved in the day to day operations of the company though Harmsens sold the Jolly Rancher Candy to Beatrice Foods in 1966. The Finland-based company, Huhtamaki Oy bought the candy company in 1983 and gives all rights to the Jolly Rancher Candy Company. The Kohlbert Kravis Roberts & Co also purchased the Beatrice Foods which was running through ailing in 1986.

Ultimately the Huhtamaki Oy sold the Jolly Rancher to Hershey Foods Corporation in 1996. Now this Jolly Rancher comes under this Hershey Foods Corporation since that time. Hershey Foods Corporation ceased all the production at the Colorado location after the acquired. In recent years a rectangular shaped hard candies has introduced by this Jolly Rancher and became famous among the people.

The jolly rancher also marketed a collection of flavors such as grape, cherry, lemon, watermelon, and sour apple. "Tropical Blends" and "Passion fruits" are the two other assortments which are also sold by this jolly rancher. These two are quite different to each other which comprises different fruit items like the "Tropical Blends", include strawberry-banana, raspberry-pineapple, banana-pineapple, mandarin-tangerine, and lemon lime; and where as in "Passion fruits", it includes fruit punch, strawberry, raspberry, peach, and orange.
