Charles See a Canadian emigrant along with his mother and his wife established the first See’s candy shop and kitchen at Florence of Western Avenue in Los Angeles in November of 1921. Mary See's home kitchen was influence them to design their shop similarly, which was impressive with sparkling clean, black and white.

It was the biggest opportunity to him who opened a shop in San Francisco in 1936. At the age of 85 See’s mother died. But still there was no change to be found in their business strategy as the company was then able to adjust with the changing times. The same type of quality and services were provided by the company with dedicatedly as Mary See represented. There were huge numbers See's Candy Shops were to be found then in every where of California following to the World War II. Still the See's family continued with their same tradition and shops were spreading throughout the state. A Phenomenal shopping mall was established by Charles itself in 50’s. People were never forget the quality and taste of the See's Candies products. People were still enjoying with visit the See's old-fashioned black and white shops. After a long break See's family sold the company to Berkshire Hathaway Inc in 1972. The Chairman and vice chairman of Berkshire Hathaway Inc. Warren Buffett and Vice Chairman Charles Munger presented the President and CEO chair to Charles N. Huggins for utilizing the same philosophy in their acquired business. And he joined in 1951 and dedicated himself to the continuance of the company guided with the traditional values set by Charles See till 2005. Today See's Candies are sold in over two hundred shops throughout the Western United States, which become the true evidence of popularity.
